Inspired by history, hand-crafted with passion

Our story begins in 2016, founded on a passion for producing spirits that are authentically made in the way that they’re advertised. We’re an independent family business and we hand-craft our own gin in small batches from our seaside home and Distillery on the Wirral Peninsula, near to the historic cities of Chester and Liverpool.

The quality of our gin is a testament to our principles:

We only use natural ingredients and we source our botanicals as locally as possible

Authentically small-batch

We produce around 40-100 bottles at a time, each one with passion and care to make it truly special

Genuinely artisan

We independently produce our own gin from start to finish and each bottle is individually filled, labelled, wax sealed and numbered by hand

The botanical recipes we develop each have a story, inspired by our British heritage and the natural world around us.
It took a year to develop the formula which became the basis of the recipe for our signature international award-winning Darkside Gin.

Tappers Gin Range

Let us take you on a journey through time…

…to a world of clandestine parties and secret speakeasies. Our story begins in 2016 but our gin presents the rediscovery of a lost style of gin production using a process known as compounding.

We have brought compound gin out of the Prohibition Era and into the 21st Century using artisanal methods and high-quality natural ingredients to deliver spirits that are distinctively complex and full of flavour.

Working to carefully designed botanical recipes, we ensure our spirits retain a deep complexity of aroma and a full flavoured body otherwise lost through distillation. Through delicate filtration, our spirits retain the intensity of their flavour and natural amber hue.

Imitation may be the greatest form of flattery…

…but we don’t imitate, we innovate. Our story is built upon our spirits, and the unique, individual stories they have to tell. The botanicals we use within them reflect our British heritage and the natural world around us.

With juniper at the heart of all we do, we’re steadfastly true to the very definition of a British gin. We don’t use artificial colours, flavourings or added sugar.

Our spirits are distinctively complex, full-bodied and flavoursome. And, they’re incredibly versatile when it comes to serving: from the traditional G&T through to classic or more modern cocktails.

After a year of experiments, recipe adjustments, sampling, our signature
award-winning Darkside Gin was finally released in May 2016

And then, our journey truly began

Drawing on inspiration from nature, the first of our seasonal
expressions – Wintergreen Gin – was first released in October 2016

Figgy Pudding

Our first limited-edition, Figgy Pudding Gin, was originally intended to be a single-batch release for December 2016. It proved so popular we now bring it back each Christmas, for you all like Figgy Pudding, you all like Figgy Pudding, so we’ll bring you some each year!

Our second seasonal expression, Springfever Gin, was first released
in March 2017 to a floral fanfare

Following hot on the heels of our spring seasonal expression, and the success of our Christmas limited-edition, we decided to indulge again with the release of our second limited edition in April 2017 for Easter: the luxurious dark-chocolate Eggcentric Gin
