Brightside is the signature London Dry Gin in our range and the distilled counterpart to Darkside Gin. We are the first Distillery in the UK to use two production techniques and create both a compounded and distilled version of the same botanical recipe.
We take the same coastal botanicals that we use in Darkside, including locally foraged sea beet – all inspired by the British seaside and maritime history of our local area. Only this time, using a traditional 40 litre copper pot still (named Lena in honour of our distiller’s grandmother), we distil the result to the rigorous standards of a London Dry Gin. Why? Because we agree – there are always two sides to every story: the Brightside and the Darkside.
The name Brightside means a favourable or hopeful aspect – “if you cannot see the bright side, polish up the dark side.”
Brightside is a “citrus-forward gin with a gentle, but well-defined character; light and refreshing, with a bright crispness” (International Wine & Spirits Competition, 2019). A score of 87/100 from the IWSC judging panel recognises Brightside as one of the highest quality gins in the world.
Signature serve: Vesper Martini – 60ml Brightside Gin, 20ml vodka, 10ml dry vermouth – follow in the footsteps of James Bond and shake, rather than stir, this cocktail with ice.
G&T perfect serve: Fever-Tree Mediterranean Tonic with a sprig of thyme and wedge of orange to garnish.
For the more adventurous: White Lady – 45ml Brightside Gin, 20ml triple sec, 20ml lemon juice, egg white (optional), 10ml simple syrup – shake ingredients with ice first and strain back into the shaker, then shake again without ice.
